Principal's Desk (Principal's Message)
Magasvargiya Education Society Pusad, District Yavatmal ( Maharashtra, India ) was established on September 16, 1978. The founder of this organization, Late. A. I. Mirza Sir, endured various hardships and took troubles in extremely difficult circumstances. And through his hard work he made this institution reach the pinnacle of success by working tirelessly and keeping the goal of expansion of education and progress of the nation at the core. Magasvargiya Education Society has completed 45 years of its inception today. With the aim of carrying out social responsibility and repaying the social debt, a small sapling of knowledge was planted by shri. A. I. Mirza sir in the form of Magasvargiya Education Society, which was nurtured and promoted phenomenally. As a result, today this small plant has become a huge tree of knowledge benefitting a large section of society. From Jintur to Nagpur and from Pusad to Washim, equally from Bal Sadan to old age homes, there are 24 active branches and the likes are working under this organization. One of them is Ghulam Nabi Azad College of Social Work. This college was established on August 14, 1993.
Pusad is city located in the region of Vidarbha which also is known as the pilgrimage of education. At that time there were only three social work colleges in the metropolitan cities of Vidarbha, especially in Amravati and Nagpur. A. I. Mirza Sir laid the foundation of Ghulam Nabi Azad College of Social Work by recognizing the need of social work education for the people of Pusad area, especially for the downtrodden, backward class, tribal, poor, very poor and deprived classes. At that time there were 4 professors, 4 non-teaching staff and 100 students in the college. At present there are 21 professors, 19 non-teaching staff working in the college. In the academic session 2022-23, 357 students enrolled for bachelor social work (B.S.W.) Master of social work ( M.S.W.) and Doctor of Philosophy ( Ph. D. ).
After the passing away of Late A. I. Mirza Sir, his eldest son. Honorable Mr. Dr. Wajahat Mirza (Member of Maharashtra state legislative Council) is the President of Magasvargiya Education Society and his younger son honorable Mr. Sajjad Mirza is doing a commendable job as the Secretary. Since the establishment of the college till date, many students of this college have brought laurels to the college by working on good positions in government, semi government and private organizations after getting education in this social work college. Currently in the college, various academic, curricular and cocurricular programs such as Human resource management, community development department in the college along with well-equipped library, computer room, Ph.D. Center, University Examination Center, National Service Scheme, Computerized Seminar Hall, Student Development Department, Job Placement etc. Departments are also working. Most of the students are taking advantage of this.
